1. Select Appropriate Targets

We believe that you begin with the end in mind. Selection starts by telling us what type of business or opportunity you seek. We then use our extensive database and refining initial target lists into a preferred group of prospects that match your goals. Extra options are identified via traditional business information services and through direct industry research including trade publications, industry associations and other sources. Then, our staff reviews the target’s financial data, operations, ownership, and other concepts.

2. Engage Exclusive Contact

Mid America Advisors staff personally contacts the target’s management and owners for you. Our proven contact management system includes establishing shareholder interest, determining appropriate follow-up and initiating relationships between our staff and prospect shareholders. Upon indication of affirmative interest, we provide appropriate client background information and diligently follow up to solidify interest and obtain prospect evaluation materials. These materials typically include three years of audited financial data and interim statements, product or capabilities brochures and any other information deemed necessary for initial review and evaluation of prospect.

3. Show Findings

Mid America Advisors will issue a detailed report of our findings. This not only includes the target name and ownership information, but the financial data as well. By the time our client is ready to open a dialogue, they are presented with a professional and fact-driven report. Not merely a list of names to call back. We view the screening process as a partnership with our client, not merely a handoff.

4. Assist With Next Steps

We are available to assist with negotiations and provide relevant, real-time data by which to begin a dialogue. In addition, we assure both the acquirer and the target that they are in an exclusive and consultative process. There is no mass marketing and confidentiality is something the client can be assured of.

Mid America Advisors has access to a complete database of owners in virtually every company in every U.S. industry. We have cultivated long-term contacts with both small and mid-size businesses. Some contacts inform us that while the timing may not be right, they keep us at the top of their list when the decision ultimately comes. In many instances, we know of the opportunity before anyone else does, giving our search agents a head start over other firms.

Initiate One-On-One Contact

The Acquisition Assist program requires one-on-one contact, not simply mass mailers or email blasts. We have discovered over the years that many targets have already been contacted on an impersonal basis by other search firms or acquiring companies, only to discard the query. A vast majority of sellers want exclusive representation as well and a private, trustworthy firm to begin a process with.

Simply put: the best acquisition candidates are made from personal phone calls from a highly skilled, experienced individual to your selected target with optimum results.

Avoid Known Sellers

We contact targets before they hit the open market, thereby starting dialogue before bidding ever begins. This can allow for a personal relationship to develop with the target and gives a level of privacy most candidates demand. Many candidates worry (justifiably) that any public knowledge of a process could lead to a myriad of headaches for them.
